politik.ch expands to Europe

PolitAnalytics AG closes a successful Series A investment with Ruedi Noser, Council of States member and IT entrepreneur

politik.ch, Switzerland’s leading platform for politics and policy experts, has just completed a successful Series A investment round. Zurich’s Council of States member and long-time IT entrepreneur Ruedi Noser has secured a substantial equity position as a minority shareholder.

The million-euro investment will be used exclusively to grow at an EU level. politik.ch will be active on the Brussels floor using their international brand «politanalytics.com». From summer 2022 on, they will provide customers at an EU level with services comparable to those in Switzerland. Making use of artificial intelligence and machine learning, «politanalytics.com» offers so-called «AI-powered predictive policy making». Customers can track the political development of their topics quickly and in real time, while the platform provides estimates of the speed of legal implementation, or the likelihood of success, along with knowledge management and collaboration features. More than 50 potential customers at EU level have already expressed their interest in the «politanalytics.com» solution with an LOI.

Clemens Maria Schuster, who has now been named «Digital Shaper» for «Infrastructure Building» for the second time by the Swiss digital association «digitalswitzerland» and the magazine «BILANZ», is the co-founder, chairman of the board and main shareholder. Born in Austria, living and working in Switzerland since 2007, he is well connected in Brussels and fully understands the European legislative processes as well as lobbying activities of associations, companies, and civil society.

The company PolitAnalytics AG is now valued at CHF 7 million with this investment. Particularly, the investment is significant, given that traditional seed and angel investors, venture capitalists and investment funds have rarely invested in politik.ch’s domains: Governmental Technologies («GovTech»), LegalTech and CivicTech, or other policy-related spheres are mostly funded only by nonprofit foundations, and are not considered to be fast-growing and lucrative enough. Quite an incorrect assumption, as the example of the international market leader FiscalNote, based in Washington D.C. shows: Founded in 2012, the American startup is currently going public with a valuation of USD 1.3 billion (Nasdaq: NOTE).

politik.ch launched on the Swiss market in 2018 with three customers from the association, party and corporate sectors. Within three years, politik.ch was able to establish itself as the premium market leader for political monitoring and issue management in Switzerland. Customers include the Swiss Bankers Association (SBVg), Axpo, Hirslanden Group, Interpharma, UPC, Kinderschutz Schweiz, and numerous other national and international companies, associations, chambers, parties, parliamentary groups, NGOs and NPOs. politik.ch provides them with legally compliant, comprehensive data at national and cantonal level. Clients praise their best-in-class customer service.

A new female member of the Board of Directors will be nominated early 2022. She is an outstanding expert in political communication and public affairs, and has a large network in Swiss and international politics.

Ruedi Noser is the sole investor in the Series A round. The two early-stage investors Daniel Staffelbach, member of the Board of Directors since the company’s foundation in 2018 and partner at Walder Wyss, and Jean-Marc Hensch, Senior Advisor since 2020, converted long-term liquidity loans. In addition, other employees besides the founders now have a stake in the company too.
