UX/UI designer (f/m/*, 80-100%, remote)

Do you like to create engaging experiences and to guide users through intuitive and easy-to-use interfaces? You like to maintain the consistency of a brand? You know what big data- based digital storytelling is, and know how to use UI/UX best practices to take great design to the next level? Do you like playing around with and visualizing (open) data? You:

  • are bridging the gap between product development and visual design
  • design fluid and consistent interactions based on agreed principles

PolitAnalytics is based on Symfony, React, D3.js and some more libraries. You will join a fully agile team of back-end / front-end developers / product & design team. Our tool is a comprehensive, reliable, fast, and independent platform that collects and processes open government data focusing on politics.

Your role is dedicated to long-term learning and self-developing, so you will be key in maintaining and expanding our platform. Therefore we offer competitive compensation based on your location, and additional benefits, depending on your needs and goals. We will work fully remote. Your role can be performed part-time (80-100%), with great flexibility, and we support flexible working arrangements.

Your must-haves:

  • Proven professional experience of at least 2 years in React/Redux, HTML, CSS and JavaScript/TypeScript. You actively participated in at least 2-3 large-scale projects.
  • Proactive person, willing to participate in software design & architectural decisions and discussions (code architecture) .
  • We expect you to have all capabilities in web development: a good understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, Git, Unit tests, as well as good knowledge of all underlying concepts of web architecture (HTTPS, REST APIs, Browser APIs, DOM manipulation, performance optimization).
  • Completed / well advanced education in computer science, programming, or applied informatics (university, technical college or similar) OR self-trained wizard with proven outstanding track record.

  • Passion about writing clean and optimized code.

  • Solid experience of applied UX / UI
  • Experience with any of the following: Redux-toolkit, Webpack, MUI, styled components, React-Hook-Form.
  • In-depth knowledge of CSS – the box-model, browser compatibility, pseudo-classes/elements, selectors specificity, responsive web design.

Our tool is a comprehensive, reliable, fast, and independent platform that collects and processes open government data focusing on politics.

Your role is dedicated to long-term learning and self-developing, so you will be key in maintaining and expanding our platform. Therefore we offer competitive compensation based on your location, and additional benefits, depending on your needs and goals. We will work fully remote. Your role can be performed full time (80-100%) or part-time (40-60%) with great flexibility, we support flexible working arrangements as we are a family-friendly employer.

Your must-haves:

  • Experience as a DevOps engineer in a scalable production environment.
  • Setup and operate Kubernetes clusters using best practices (should know how to build architecture using the single concern principle, implement service communication, expose services outside the cluster and scale up when needed ).
  • Knowledge about infrastructure monitoring and good understanding of metrics and tracking down performance issues.
  • Build Docker images for production use cases.
  • Excellent Linux knowledge (i.e. Alpine Linux quirks).
  • Experience deploying medium sized production environments focused on limiting costs and providing high availability on GCP.
  • Experience using Git for version control.
  • Experience with CI/CD and automation technologies such as Ansible, Bitbucket Pipelines and/or Jenkins.
  • Good PHP knowledge.

Our hiring process follows 2-3 interviews with a personal interview, some tasks within a given amount of time, a skills assessment interview, and a final HR / contracting interview.
